It’s a boy!

Yes, for the first time since I started this little series I could resist the temptation to draw a female character.

Another premiere is that I’m in real time in the video itself rather than speeding it up and doing the voice over. I thought this would cause me to stay within the five minutes.

And as you can see: forget about that!

This time you see me obey the guidelines I prepare for this drawing in Manga Studio entirely. This is because I want to give you a basic of how you can create something just by starting with some basic lines and shapes and then going from there.

Next time I’m doing a female character again but I will be in the video again even though the rendering of the video project takes forever this way.

5 Minute Freestyle Drawing #7

For the first time this year it’s time again to do a freestyle drawing. I got some nice responses on this series so I will continue with this.

This time I decided to do a a girl in a pretty boring evening dress. Boring because it doesn’t accentuate a lot of the body so we are really fast done with the shape here.

As I said in the video I’m not that fast, the video is sped up by 300%. Thank you very much for watching and also thank you very much for watching!

How To Create A Sexy Chubby Chibi

Can a Chibi-like or chubby character be sexy? Of course this will always lay in the eyes of the beholder, just as the fact that a perfectly beautiful person isn’t necessary sexy and vice versa.

Anyway, before I become to philosophic on this topic I want to dive into a chibi-like drawing. The reason for this is that I’m asked if I could do a video on a female character in they style of the one from the music video of the Studio Killers (you can watch it at the bottom of this post).

My answer was yes and no.

Yes, because I can and did make a conceptual video on this as you saw above. In fact we are deconstructing the style of the drawing.

No, I don’t do the exact same thing as I don’t want to infringe any copyrights here.

After walking the dog and before heading to shoot some photographs I felt the urge to grab my Intuos4 and start up Manga Studio to do another 5 minute freestyle drawing. Though I had just a slight idea what I wanted to do I think you should try to realize your idea’s as long as they are fresh.

Finally I made a screen cast of the inking process in Manga Studio of my 5 minutes freestyle drawing #5. I can already assure you that the next drawing in this series will be more in the time frame as the title makes you believe.

However, it was hard to resist going the extra mile and finish it instead of just delivering a sketch that probably would have been finished in 10 minutes or so.

I would love to see some video responses of your own 5 minutes freestyle drawing.

Welcome to the second part of our 5 minute freestyle drawing #5. Yes, this 5 minutes will be a little longer than usual but I think it fits into the category very well.

In this second part I decided that the legs and hands had to be changed. So the major development will take place in the next part and I have to admit

that I can’t promise right now that part 3 will be the last one. This is mainly because I really want to do the inking on this as well.

This time I decided to split my 5 minute freestyle drawing video in at least to parts. It’s an exception, promised. I do this because this will not fit into 5 minutes and I don’t want to have you hit the pause button 100 times. 90 times is enough.

OK, just kidding, but as I promised in the last video where we were drawing the angry boy a much cooler one I think it’s OK to give this one some more time.

The next part will be up one of these days, so stay tuned.
