Sometimes you have to make it work in a split second. Getting the settings right in situations like this means knowing your gear.

In one of this split seconds Pedro Hamers took this photograph of a little boy and an approaching lion in Gaia Zoo (Kerkrade / The Netherlands). The two stood just inches from each other just divided by security glass.

Are the parents of this boy are happy with this image? You bet. This image also got Pedro a honorable mention by Jared Polin.
